Welcome to National Service Scheme

National Service Scheme is a novel experiment in the academic expansion. It inculcates the spirit of voluntary service among the students and teachers, through sustained community interactions. It shoes how to combine knowledge and action, to achieve practical knowledge and action, to achieve commendable community development. Over the years NSS has, emerged as India's largest student youth movement, that has direct involvement in the social well being.

On September 24, 1969, the then union education minister Dr. V.K.RV. Rao launched the NSS Programme in 37 universities covering all states. It was appropriate that the programme was started in the Gandhi centenary year as it was Gandhiji who inspired the Indian Youth to participate in the movement for Indian Independence and social uplift of the down trodden of our nation.

The motto or watch word of the National Service Scheme is "Not me But You''. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the others' point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare society on the whole.
