Started in 1955 with 22 students and 2 teachers, the department pioneered commerce studies in the Eastern part of Kerala. Since inception, it has many laurels to its credit, particularly in respect of academic performance by its students in University exams. The department is far ahead in terms of Ph.Ds produced, CMA Qualifiers, UGC NET/JRF holders, student achievements in intercollegiate fests both at state and national level and progression and placements. It focuses on encouraging to evaluate existing and new evidence based practices, contributing to the growth of research and knowledge base and expanding critical thinking skills in an effort to respond to the rapid changes.
