ACHIEVEMENTS
The department celebrated its golden jubilee during 2007, and continuing its uninterrupted efforts to the fight against darkness, galloping to conquer newer horizons and try to learn and unravel the mysteries of nature and natural phenomena.
Research

Research work progressing under the guidance of two research guides, Dr. Sankara raman & Dr. Thomas Varghese.

Established Nanoscience Research Laboratory.

The department collaborates with the Department of Studies in Physics, Mangalore University, Karnataka for the Nanoscience Research Programme.
Organizing Seminars/Workshops/Symposia

The Department conducted 3 days Faculty development Training Programme on IT for college teachers in association with KSHEC, Thiruvananthapuram during 7-9, December 2010. Dr. Thomas Varghese was the co-ordinator of the programme.

The Department organized 2 days National Sympoisum on Nanoscience & Technology – NANOSTECH 2011 from 1-2 September, 2011 with the financial support from BRNS, DST and KSCSTE. Dr. Thomas Varghese was the convener of the programme.
- Dr. S. Sankararaman coordinated ‘Inspire’ implemented by the Department of science and Technology, Government of India for attracting young talents to study science, during 2010 & 2011.
- Every year Physics association conducts a number of seminars and Physics Exhibition.
- The department organized a workshop for physics teachers on 27th September 2010.
Social Awareness Programme
Awards/Ranks
Dr.S.Sankararaman one of our teachers got Innovative educator award in 2009 from AIACHE.

In 2008 Ms. Archana M passed BSc physics model-I with a Third Rank. In 2011 Ms. Sreeja Sasidharan secured Third Rank for the same course. Also Ms. Sreeja Sasidharan got admission at IIT madras for M.Sc degree course.
