Association activities

Botany association conducts different activities such as:-

• Onam and Christmas celebrations
• Conducting Invited lectures, seminars etc.
• Exhibitions, 
• Maintenance of Botanical garden
• Publication of Manuscript magazine
• Maintenance of the mushroom house  

Association activities:-

• Celebration of the World environment day on June 5th by planting a sapling in front of the Botanical  garden by our principal Prof. N. Joy.
• The botany association was  inaugurated by Mr. Mathew M. Kuriakose on 12th August 2010. He also delivered a lecture on the sense and essence of Bio conservation.
•  A warm welcome to the newcomers was organized by the Association.
• The other activities are Onam and  Christmas celebrations, 
• Participation in various competitions like, Onappattu, Flower carpet, Thruvathira etc.
• The students also actively participated and won prizes in sports and games competitions conducted in the college.
• They participated in the two day annual exhibition ‘SKILTEX’ 2010 and won the second prize in the interdepartmental competition organized by the college.
• The exhibits projected the importance of Biodiversity in nature and the necessity of its conservation.
• The evolutionary trend in the plant world was presented from algae to higher plants in a sequential order.
• It also focused on the fossil flora and fauna of the Paleozoic era by a pictorial representation.
• The other exhibits like flower arrangement, vegetable carving, medicinal plants, mushroom cultivation made the exhibition more live and colorful.
• Association also incorporated in the Science fest “Scientia 2011” organized by all the science departments (Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology) of the college on the 27th and 28th January 2011. 

Prizes for the Association Activities

Botany Association got First prize for Manuscript magazine competition during the year 2009-2010

Got second place in the annual exhibition competition conducted in the college during 2010-11

Got third prize in flower carpet competition conducted in the college in 2011-12
